Seccl to power Plan Happy adviser platform

Platform service operator Seccl has been contracted to provide tech support to Plan Happy’s new adviser platform service.

The Octopus-owned embedded investment platform says it provides low-cost application programming interface (API)-first technology infrastructure to support firms run their own platforms.

Plan Happy has already built its own bespoke platform with a front-end interface for clients. An adviser portal will follow soon.

It said the team is also actively working on building analysis software with longer-term plans to incorporate cashflow modelling tools.

The adviser firm will be connecting its new bespoke platform via Seccl’s API.

It said the new platform will complement its existing range of support services as well as provide a “one-stop-shop” for practices looking to streamline the financial planning process for advisers and their clients.

Plan Happy, was founded by Neil Parker, who developed the firm’s lifestyle financial planning process over many years working with thousands of clients at Joslin Rhodes.

The firm was spun out of Joslin Rhodes as a separate company in 2018.

Parker grew the North East-based advice business to more than 50 staff, a turnover of £5m and over £200m of clients’ funds under management.

Plan Happy currently provides software, training, and support services to small- and medium-sized financial planning firms.

The business helps smaller companies to improve their client experience and grow their business, it claims.

Plan Happy founding chief executive Neil Parker said: “We were convinced that the platform experience most advisers receive isn’t up to scratch – at times actively hindering productivity rather than supporting it. It was only natural, then, that we add a platform of our own to our growing range of productivity-boosting services.

We wanted to go beyond the typical white label model and take much greater control of the overall experience that advisers and clients receive. In particular, we were adamant that the platform should be deeply embedded within our existing adviser portal, not bolted on as a separate tool, something that was only possible thanks to Seccl’s API-first construction. They’ve been exceptionally open to our ideas throughout.”

Adviser platform model is doomed to fail

Seccl CEO David Ferguson added: “Plan Happy is a business that truly comprehends the adviser’s needs, and we’re excited to be part of the ecosystem they’re building.

“Their approach aligns with the growing demand among advisory firms for fully integrated digital solutions, replacing outdated manual processes. This partnership empowers advisers to grow their businesses while focusing on delivering exceptional service to their clients.”
