I attended the Idaho Superintendent Network meeting in Boise last week. It was a worthwhile event with State Superintendent Debbie Critchfield and her staff present as well as other state department of education personnel. The focus was on what is currently going on in the state in regards to education. Several items were covered such as how to implement some of the laws that were put into effect this year as well as some of the upcoming plans.
There was much discussion of public school funding and the upcoming potential vouchers. We are working as a group across the state to help with this process to make sure public education remains on the forefront of the conversation. Many of the issues facing education today are directly affected by funding. Increased behaviors and attendance issues are common discussions across the state and nation. We will continue to do the best we can to provide the best educational experience for all students with the means we have. Community support of our schools is outstanding in our district and I am looking forward to tackling future topics as a team.
