Team Schlopy, led by three-time olympic skier Erik Schlopy and partner Kevin Crockett, is legendary in Park City real estate.
The Schlopy family started working in real estate 31 years ago, and they’ve seen growing success as more and more people choose to move to the area. Under the umbrella of Coldwell Banker Realty, Team Schlopy is now the number one real estate team in Utah, and not just in luxury real estate.
“Park City’s a resort market so there’s always been a luxury component … but we honestly work with anybody who wants to move to Park City,” said Schlopy.
Part of what has made Team Schlopy so well received is their approach to serving their clients.
“I educate my clients on the real estate market, but really I have fun with them. We go ski, we mountain bike, we fish, we golf. I live the Park City lifestyle with my clients and open up their eyes to how amazing this town is,” said Schlopy.
Joy Larkin, a realtor who is dual licensed in Chicago and Park City, said she discovered the Park City charm in 2005. Visiting each year as skiers, Larkin said she finally decided to move her family here full-time during COVID and got connected with Team Schlopy.
Meanwhile, Dawn McKenna was based outside of Chicago and was steadily growing her clientele, expanding to where her clients were interested in owning homes, from the city to Florida to the Great Lakes.
“The mountains sort of rounded out the pie,” said McKenna, as her clients started wanting to buy in Park City.
With Larkin’s feet in both markets, she was the perfect bridge. So when Dawn McKenna Group decided to expand to Park City, Larkin approached McKenna about getting involved.
After connecting McKenna to Team Schlopy, the two groups realized their joint efforts would bring strengths together — Schlopy’s reputation and intimate knowledge of the area and McKenna’s network and success in the luxury market.
“Park City, I would say, has become more sophisticated. And part of becoming part of Dawn McKenna Group is they bring a level of sophistication and a network all across the country,” said Schlopy.
Now, with their new partnership with Dawn McKenna Group, Team Schlopy are eager to take the next step in luxury real estate.
When it comes to their work, Crockett said inventory is down, partially due to interest rates. However, McKenna said Park City is unique because of the amount of developments and new construction it offers, many of which aren’t listed yet.
“The inventory thing is a little askew here, because if you have 3 to 10 million dollars and you want a great house this season, we can get it for you,” said McKenna. “Everybody is looking for the shiny penny. No one wants to do any work, and they want to come and get a turn-key house and enjoy. And we’ve got that.”
