A local superstar is making huge waves across the television and film industry.
Lucia Aliu, 8, from Liverpool, has already bagged roles even the most experienced actors hope for. Many of us will have got our first glimpse of the actress in Coronation Street but the cobbles are a far cry from her now global influence.
Lucia’s talent has been obvious from an early age. Her dad, David, told the ECHO: “We were tempted to look at local drama groups but refrained as we still thought she was a tad too young. After a good Google we decided to throw her in front of an agent, in the hope of initial advice and support on local performing arts groups – what was the worst that could happen?

“We sent off an application for representation from Scream Management and after a successful audition Lucia was accepted onto their books and has not stopped since.”
After joining Scream Management in November 2021, Lucia, then six, landed her first TV role as Maisie Wheatley in Coronation Street. The talented young actress blew audiences away with her portrayal of Maisie with her debut in April 2022. Her father said: “The family were elated, what a huge opportunity for a first tv gig. Once we shared the news that Lucia was going to be in Coronation Street, we were greeted with congratulations, but resounding ‘we told you so’s. Lucia was born for the TV. Lucia was beside herself and couldn’t wait to get started. First day onset Lucia developed an incredible bond with her TV mum Kimberley Hart-Simpson, a bond that remains to this day.”
With a foot firmly in the door, the gigs rolled in and not before long she was a part of Apple TV’s Hijack series, produced by Idris Elba. Her next big role comes in the form of Caroline Brackett, starring under famed actress Kayley Cuoco as her daughter in Amazon Prime’s Role Play.
Lucia is destined for superstardom but it doesn’t mean she’s not able to live a normal life. Her father said: “When Lucia is working on a production she has a one-to-one tutor on set, which is part and parcel of the production. In between productions, Lucia attends school as normal and has a real love for learning and the company of her friends. She really enjoys stating she’s off to work.”
Blissfully unaware of her impact, her father added: “She initially had no idea of the scale of what she was achieving until she first saw herself on screen. If you were to ask Lucia what she loves most about acting, she loves meeting new people, being on a huge adventure and getting to play some amazing characters.”
Lucia’s dream job is to bag a role in a Marvel film, host a children’s channel or show a different side as Wednesday Adams. A star she has her sights set on working with is Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, legend Drawn Johnson and Liverpool star Jodie Comer. On her favourite role so far, her father said: “Lucia’s favourite role has been playing Caroline in Role Play. She had such huge scenes, demanding scenes, lots of lines to learn with some huge stars on the screen… but more so a tonne of fabulous outfits she got to wear and keep. The wardrobe department is one of Lucia’s favourite parts of filming. She also loves a hotel breakfast and swimming pool. When she’s not filming you are most likely to find her hanging around in hair and make-up or top bombing into the hotel pool.”
