Popular silver and small screen actress Zinat Sanu Swagata has said she wants to explore different sectors in the entertainment industry.

Swagata has carved a niche for herself working as an actress, model, presenter and singer. She is now looking forward to making her debut as a director.

She talked about her recent and upcoming ventures in an interview with New Age.

‘I am going to direct a short film titled “Ataeb” under Bangladesh Television’s project Chhoto Chhobi, Boro Swapna. It will be my maiden directorial venture,’ said Swagata.

‘It will revolve around a tragic love story similar to the stories of Romeo and Juliet, and Farhad and Shirin. The film will depict how social status affects romantic relationships. Although the film is based on a familiar story, I want to depict it in my own way,’ added Swagata.

Swagata also said that she wrote the story when she was studying at the film and media studies department at Stamford University Bangladesh.

‘I am yet to finalise the film’s cast. A seven-day workshop will be held under the project before the film’s shooting begins. I will finalise the film’s cast after attending the workshop,’ said Swagata, who recently acted in the film titled ‘Ashambhab’, which was released in November, under the direction of actress and director Aruna Biswas.

‘Ashambhab addresses the War of Independence, traditional jatra and others. The film revolves around an atypical story and I played five characters in the film,’ said Swagata.

‘I got the opportunity to watch the film with film lovers at different cinemas. The film has received a good response from the audience,’ said Swagata, who made her silver screen debut when she was three and a half years old with the film titled Linja.

Besides, Swagata has also won the hearts of music lovers as a singer.

‘I want to explore different sectors in the entertainment industry. Music is my passion and it is an essential part of my daily routine,’ said Swagata, whose father late Khoda Boksh Sanu was a renowned music teacher.

‘My father died while teaching music. I want to perform as long as I live,’ ended Swagata.
