Batesville Booville campaign kicks off | Local News

BATESVILLE – Local resident Mary Ellen Rippe is preparing to make Batesville a tourism destination for the month of October through an effort called Batesville Booville.

Rippe attended this month’s city council meeting where she requested and received $5,000 in Belterra river boat funds.

The Booville marketing team includes the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Rippe explained that their market analysis shows Halloween is the second-largest commercial holiday following Christmas.

Rippe pointed out that Vogt’s farm brings in 12,000 people for their corn maze and pumpkin festival, Batesville’s Applefest brings in 6,000 people and there are 80,000 people between Ripley, Franklin and Decatur County who could benefit from the Booville project.

“Really, what all this is about is letting everybody know how much fun they can have in Batesville in the month of October,” Rippe said.

The Booville marketing team hopes to use the existing tools the Chamber has in place including the Experience Batesville app, website and social media. The group intends to involve retailers, restaurants and other local businesses in order to collaborate to develop and market local events throughout October.
