FORT KNOX, Ky. — Many of the 97 vendors that showed up toto the Saber & Quill Sept. 21 gathered around a podium for the start of the 2023 Fort Knox Career and Education Fair.
The vendors represented opportunities for members of the Fort Knox and surrounding communities – educational and career opportunities. At the podium stood Col. Chris Ricci, commander of Fort Knox Garrison, to thank them for taking the time to provide transitioning Soldiers, spouses, family members and even high school seniors the chance to start a great career.
“We certainly hope you are pleased with the turnout today, and that the event is value added,” Ricci said. “For both you and the candidates that attend, there are a hundred vendors representing industry, education and installation services here today, proving that you are ready and willing to help these candidates find career opportunities.”
After Ricci spoke, Andrew Cooper, chief of the Transition Assistance Program, encouraged the crowd of college and career recruiters to take their places behind their tables.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Career and Education Fair 2023 is now open,” said Cooper.
By the time to event ended four hours later, over 150 college and career seeking candidates, including about 30 students from Fort Knox Middle High School, snaked their way through four rooms of opportunities, stopping frequently to ask questions and provide resumes.
Afterward, Cooper said his personnel are already beginning the process of planning for next year’s fair.
