Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:

  1. The International Ballet Competition began in Jackson on Saturday night, and city officials say they expect the event to provide a big economic boost to the area. Dancers from 17 countries around the globe will compete at Thalia Mara Hall during what some call “the Olympics for ballet.” This is the 12th time Jackson has been selected to host the USA International Competition.   2. A popular food hall in Jackson is slated to close its doors this week. Cultivation Food Hall operated in Jackson for nearly five years and played host to six restaurant concepts. The space will be open through lunch this Wednesday, Jun. 14. (WJTV)
  3. Severe storms Saturday evening left more than 22,400 customers without power, including thousands in the Jackson metro area. Entergy Mississippi reported more than 5,800 outages in Hinds County as of 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, as well as an additional 11,000 outages across Madison County. At least one home in the metro area was also damaged by a fallen tree. (WJTV)
