Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. Frontier Communications has officially chosen Dallas as its new headquarters location, with over 3,000 jobs expected to be created in the area over the next decade. The telecom company, currently based in Norwalk, Connecticut, considered both Dallas and a Florida location before making the decision. Frontier will invest in a new 95,000-square-foot office space called the “GigaHub” in Uptown Dallas, located at 1919 McKinney Avenue, which will house its CEO, leadership team, and corporate employees. 2. Film and television workers in North Texas, including members of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), gathered for a rally in Dallas on Saturday in support of the nationwide strike by actors and writers. Over 120 people participated, wearing shirts and pins representing the union chapters from Dallas-Fort Worth, North Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The strike, which began with the Writers Guild of America in May and was joined by SAG-AFTRA in July, has disrupted productions across the industry, including in Texas, where efforts have been made to attract more film and TV productions to the state. 3. Zeus, the Great Dane who held the Guinness World Record for the tallest male dog, has sadly passed away in North Texas due to bone cancer and pneumonia complications. Zeus stood at a remarkable height of three feet, 5.18 inches, earning his world record last year, and he was known for enjoying visits to the Dallas Farmers Market and spending time in his neighborhood in Bedford. His owner, Brittany Davis, shared that Zeus died peacefully with his head in her lap, receiving ear scratches and kisses until the end. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
