Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:
- Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into three stabbings that occurred within the Fulton County Jail. Sadly, one of the inmates involved, identified as 23-year-old Dayvion Blake, has died, while the other two inmates have sustained injuries. The details surrounding the stabbings, including what led to the incident and potential suspects, have not been disclosed. This incident follows a series of deaths within the jail, with five inmates passing away since Jul. 31 and nine since the beginning of the year, prompting a civil rights investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into conditions and treatment within the facility. (WSBTV)
- The Children’s Museum of Atlanta has appointed four new members to its board of directors, including Tracy Reznik of Sandy Springs. Reznik, with a background in management consulting and experience in leadership strategy development, executive coaching, and stakeholder management, will bring her expertise to the museum’s board. - Crews in Sandy Springs successfully cleared two large fallen trees that had completely blocked all lanes of Roswell Road earlier this week. The incident was reported at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, and due to traffic congestion, some equipment took a while to reach the scene. As a result, authorities had to close Roswell Road from Trowbridge to Dalrymple temporarily. After more than an hour of effort, the debris was removed, allowing the road to reopen for traffic.
